A Backyard Barn House

I found a very interesting backyard house on treehugger.com. It is built with copper roofing and recycled barn board. The inspiration came from Bernard Maybeck's Sample house, now known as the Mistake House in June of 1931. Maybeck created the sample house as a test of building and design.

The place is tiny, but very comfortable and can be used year round since it has a cute little fireplace to keep warm! They did a great job decorating and furnishing the house since they had such a small amount of space to work with. Who wouldn't want to cozy up with some hot chocolate in this backyard house on a cold day??

Donna Karan in the Hamptons

Donna Karan has a beautiful New York City apartment, but her Hamtpon Estate is equally as elegant. Both of her homes have a serene and casual asian feel to them that she appears to love and enjoy. I can picture the queen of all things chic lounging around the waterfront mansion.

Love me some grey!

I am just smitten with the shade of grey! It goes with every color, and always has a way of making everything chic and elegant. It is also neutral enough so you do not get bored with it. Just add a pattern or pop of color and you have the perfect look.

I think my favorite combination is mustard yellow and dark grey!

Brick, Brick and more Brick!

My last apartment had a lot of exposed brick throughout, and it is definitely something I miss. You can find a lot of it in the old vintage buildings throughout Chicago. I feel as though it adds some character and warmth to any room. It is also the easiest way to incorporate many neutral shades and textures to any space. Love, Love, Love!

Very Shabby Chic with the fancy chandelier!

Are you one of the lucky ones with brick in your home?

Tweak your Home

I have been trying to add new things to my apartment every now and then to make it more cozy and personal. It takes some time to really get the rooms the way you want them, and it can all cost you a pretty penny depending upon what you want to do.

Recently, I found an adorable blog, that included an even more adorable home! Joanna from House*Tweaking, shared some pictures of her house on her blog. I love almost every bit of each room, so clean and creative! She says that she is always tweaking all the rooms.

I love the DIY Headboard!

Tour of Jennifer Aniston's new NY penthouse

Recently Jennifer Aniston bought a penthouse in New York's West Village. She spent about $8m buying the 17th and 18th floors in this large building on 12th street. The 18th floor one bedroom previously belonged to celebrity hairstylist, Sally Hershberger. I have pictures of the place while Hershberger was still living there, but gives you an idea of the architecture and style Jennifer was going for. The penthouse, which was designed by architect Brad Floyd and decorated by Joe D’Urso, has a funky and bright flare.

A cozy english-styled home in Conneticut

This beautiful New England home was created and designed by architect Joel Barkley, but not without the help of decorator Alexa Hampton. The main level flows smoothly without, creating a very open floor plan as there are no hallways. I absolutely love how the hidden side of the house, or entrance court, is a crisp white, and the front has black wooden panels. I also like the idea of a fireplace in the foyer, very warm and welcoming. Almost makes me want a cold, crisp fall day, well maybe not...this Chicago weather today is too perfect!

Enjoy your Tuesday, I am heading to an afternoon baseball game!
